*Note to Readers

These tables were generated based on data we received from each of the listed institutions, typically from archivists. Williams College originally informed us that it took them 167 years to secure an endowment of $2 million, so this is what appears in the publication. Williams College contacted us after the publication of the book to inform us that it actually took 123 years to reach the milestone. This correction has resulted in a very slight adjustment to two tables; however, it does not change the fundamental points made about Tuskegee's achievements under Booker T. Washington, nor does it alter the conclusions made about the enormous growth in endowments of the listed predominantly white institutions, as compared with the limited endowment growth of Tuskegee and other HBCUs since 1915.
